We are losing quite a bit of our public record and the means to understand it. I am very interested in the problems related to digital preservation and software preservation in particular.

ethics: Archival and preservation are about assigning value to artifacts sometimes after the fact. They often rely on a variety of ideas toward choosing which things survive and which do not. Not everything should be preserved. Choosing and acting both intersect at ethics.


Social Archiving: Sometimes It is OK to Forget

An essay looking at the archival practice of preserving federated social media, berries.space in particular, and a critical look at the Archive Team and how we should be critical or offer resistance to archivists. Ends on some notes on building both social networks and archives that are more aware of these concerns.
